Hardwood Plywood and, by extension, Wood Veneer Edgebanding, is defined by the types of slicing, matching, and grade of the wood product. With various methods of slicing and matching, veneers can be customized to each wood species and project, resulting in multiple exceptional options to make any project uniquely artful.
Plain Slice:
Plain Sliced veneer is produced by cutting roughly parallel to the center of the log, tangentially to the growth rings. Generally, Plain Slicing produces a consistent appearance for each sheet, and creates a cathedral grain pattern on the surface. Plain Slicing offers the look of Plain or Flat Sawn Lumber, resulting in a repeating pattern of steep peaks to valleys.

Hardwood products are made from beautiful hardwood, designed to showcase the stunning figure and allure of wood. Often stained or finished, these thin sheets are assembled using an engineered core—from veneer core, particleboard, to medium density fiberboard.

Fabrication
Wood Veneer Edgebanding is manufactured through an exacting process in which individual pieces of veneer are joined into a continuous roll by finger-jointing the veneer. This inflection point between different pieces of veneer is glued together and joined with a die cut finger layout and is color and grain matched by flipping every other piece of veneer.
The Veneer is then laminated to a color-matched fleece cellulous membrane to ensure the durability of the edgebanding. The edgebanding is offered non-glued, pre-glued, or prefinished.
Please consult with your Sales or Specifications Representative, as we can help you determine what is acceptable to you for color, flitch size, size and amount of pin knots, rough grain or other defects in order to get you the product that works best for your applications.
Sustainability:
White Oak trees are native to North America. Clear, wide white oak lumber comes from the giant girth of the large White Oak tree. The tree can be as wide as it is tall. With a lifespan of up to 500 years, White oaks have been used in architecture and furniture for centuries. Less abundant and more desirable than Red Oak, White Oak is still fairly plentiful and sustainable. White oak is sustainably harvested throughout Eastern North America.
We recognize the importance of ethically harvested lumber. As our most valuable resource, sustainably harvested forests increase the rate of carbon sequestration and significantly cut carbon emissions. Wood is a renewable and sustainable material for the built environment, requiring less energy than alternatives like concrete or steel. From harvesting to recycling, lumber is the most carbon-efficient choice for building materials. Wood is of the few elements that can increase sustainability in a building’s life cycle, reduce waste, and create positive biophilic health benefits. Increasingly, architects and designers are calling for a return to wood as the prominent basic building material.
