Care & Maintenance:

Klaaswood® products are designed for durability and low maintenance, but regular care can help ensure the long-term performance and beauty of your thermally modified wood. Maintaining a clean surface will help to prevent staining from dirt, pollen, and debris buildup. Stains can be removed with light pressure washing and standard cleaning agents.

2nd Generation Hydrolysis

Klaaswood® utilizes an innovative 2nd generation modification process called Hydrolysis. Raw pine is subjected to heat and pressure in a closed chamber for a duration of several hours. The time varies depending on the characteristics of the wood and desired final attributes. This process modifies the cellular structure of the wood, making it stronger, more stable, and resistant to water, rot, and decay. The wood maintains its natural color, but it can also be stained or finished based on your needs.

Hydrolysis builds on the foundation laid by well-established 1st generation processes that use high heat, pressure, and often steam to modify raw lumber, but is more energy efficient and takes less time, revolutionizing the process of modifying wood without biocide chemicals.
