Specifications
Machinability
Particle Board is easily machinable. It is a reliable and workable substrate for High-Pressure Laminates and veneer. Particle Board is engineered for each of its applications—from industrial, heave-duty applications to residential kitchens and cabinets.
Fabrication
Particle Board is made from wood chips, flakes, and fibers combined with resin or other adhesives then heat pressed into sheets. The sheets are cooled and hardened before being cut and sanded into panels.
The chips, flakes, fibers, and other wood materials used to make Particle Board can be sourced from recycled products for a more sustainable panel.
Industrial Particle Board
Industrial Particle Board, or composite core, is classified by its density. Industrial Particle Board is denser than non-industrial Particle Board and is specifically engineered for more heavy-duty and commercial use.
Particle Board Standards
The American National Standard for Particleboard (ANSI A208.1) is the North American industry voluntary standard that classifies particleboard by physical, mechanical and dimensional characteristics as well as formaldehyde levels. The consensus-based Standard was developed through the sponsorship of the Composite Panel Association (CPA) in conjunction with producers, users and general interest groups.
Third-party certification to ANSI Standards is required for many applications of composite panels. In addition, many building code jurisdictions require the physical properties of particleboard underlayment and stair treads to be third-party certified.
