Specifications
The MDF composition results in an engineered panel that is extremely versatile. The density of these panels offers excellent strength, durability, and consistency.
Weyerhaeuser is well suited for many interior paint grade molding and millwork applications. It is easily coated and resists denting and scrapes, which may easily damage pine or other solid wood moldings. Avoid storing or installing Weyerhaeuser MDF moldings in areas where unpainted or unsealed surfaces encounter moisture.
Cutting:
Carbide-tipped tools are recommended for the best results.
Moisture Content and Dimensional Stability:
Like all wood-based products, Weyerhaeuser MDF is susceptible to change in dimension, surface smoothness and flatness as it gains or loses moisture. Temperature and relative humidity conditions largely determine the equilibrium moisture content of the panel, which will either be picking up or losing moisture until it reaches a stable state. Depending on ambient temperature and humidity, it may take up to 7 days for unitized panels to acclimate – and even longer under adverse conditions.
Sustainable Product Standards:
Weyerhaeuser is an industry leader in using wood from forests managed to sustainable standards and making the most of each tree.
- EPA TSCA Title V1 Emission Standard
- LEED US Green Building Council Support Under LEED 2009 and LEED v4
