Care and Maintenance:

Superficial micro-scratches can be repaired with thermal healing on this HPL surface. By using an iron and a damp towel/cloth, thermal healing can be applied to the scratched area of the product if scratches have not penetrated the surface. FENIX NTM® is an ideal option for high-traffic areas that need to stand the test of time for style as well as functionality.

FENIX NTM®’s unique non-porous external layer allows it to stay clean with simple, everyday care and cleaning methods. As with any other material for interior design, it should be cleaned regularly with a damp cloth and with warm water or mild detergent. Almost all regular household cleaning products or disinfectants can be safely used. Tougher stains can be removed with non-abrasive household cleaners or solvents.

Fabrication:

FENIX NTM® is a high-pressure laminate produced by simultaneous application of heat and pressure to obtain a homogenous, non-porous high-density product. It is made from more than 60% paper which is then impregnated with roughly 30-40% thermosetting resins. The external surface of FENIX NTM® is uniquely non-porous, made of paper substrate treated with a multi-layer coating of acrylic resins and then cured via an Electron Beam process. The material is color-matched to the core.

Dimensional Stability:

FENIX sheets are composed of over 60% cellulose fiber. They are sensitive to temperature variations and, above all, to humidity variations, which can cause dimensional changes. Dimensional changes of FENIX sheets can be different from those of the support and so cause warping of the finished composite sheet. This issue can be solved by:

• Pre-condition of both support and sheet before gluing
• Balancing the composite sheet so that both sides are made of sheets with identical properties
• Ventilation and humidity control of the room where the composite sheet is installed
• Installing the sheet so as to allow for dimensional changes, if any
