Both practical and beautiful, Prism Thermally Fused Laminate (TFL) is available with a range of ARAUCO’s standard and specialty panel substrates and grades, including Duraflake Particleboard, Ultra Particleboard, Trupan Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF).

With sustainability, safety and practicality in mind, a wide range of design considerations can be made by specifying fire-rated, moisture-resistant and even environmental-friendly, low-emitting substrates.

Contact your Sales or Specification Representative for more information on how to further customize Black.

ARAUCO Prism TFL thermally fused laminates are produced in six distinct textures to enhance your designs. Ideal for vertical applications and low-impact horizontal uses, they offer an array of surfacing cues for brilliant spaces from rustic and natural to industrial and chic. The Prism collection allows for versatile pairings with authentic textures and realistic woodgrains along with a wide range of rich solids and neutrals.

The Distinction by ARAUCO Program allows you to create your own unique style with state-of-the-art rotogravure or digital printing. This flexible program gives you the opportunity to show your creative flair. Provide your own artwork or choose from ARAUCO’s extensive library of global design options.

In order to maintain the life and appearance of your Prism TFL, ARAUCO suggests these guidelines:

After installing the panels, remove adhesives with paint lacquer thinner or contact adhesive solvent.

  • Continued use of solvent cleaners is not recommended.
Thermally fused melamine finished panels may be easily cleaned using a mild, non-abrasive, all-purpose cleaner and a soft cloth.
  • Coffee, tea or other difficult stains may be removed using a mild household detergent or a paste of baking soda and water (note: 10-20 strokes should remove most stains, excessive force or scrubbing may damage the surface).
Harsh chemicals or abrasive materials should not be used.
  • Should the surface come in contact with drain, toilet or oven cleaner immediately remove the chemical, rinse thoroughly and wipe dry.
  • Abrasives such as sourcing pads or gritty cleansers may permanently dull and/or scratch the surface and result in future staining.
Protect the surface from hot or sharp objects.
  • Do not place hot cookware, dishes or objects onto the surface. Knives and other sharp objects used directly on the surface can also be damaging. Protect surfaces from heat with an insulating pad or trivet, and from sharp objects with a chopping block or counter protector.

Specifications

Particleboard and Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) are ideal substrates for TFL because they are consistent, uniform in strength and free of defects. Prism TFL panels feature enhanced visual and performance characteristics with excellent scratch and wear resistance.

Specialty Substrates: Fire Rated, Moisture Resistant, VESTA ULEF

Untreated particleboard and MDF have been tested for flame spread by a number of different manufacturers and the results met the Class Ill or C rating, CAN/ULC-S102. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in their Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards (Section 3280.203) accepts particleboard 3/8 inch and thicker as having a flame spread rating of 76 to 200 for general use in mobile homes.

ARAUCO Particleboard and MDF treated with fire-rated (FR) additives are certified by Underwriters Laboratories to have a Class A or Class I fame spread rating. In addition, TFL products laminated on ARAUCO’s fire-rated particleboard or MDF substrates at the St. Stephen, NB; Bennettsville, SC or Albany, OR laminating facilities are classified by Underwriters Laboratories to have a Class A or Class I fame spread rating.

Specialty Surface Protection

The entire Prism panel program is available with a new antimicrobial surface protection known as InCopper™. It is EPA-certified and effective for the life of the panel. The proprietary formulation actively protects the surface of the TFL panel against bacteria, fungi, mold and mildew that can cause stains and odor. It is ideal for protecting finishes against degradation or deterioration in humid or high-traffic spaces including critical healthcare applications. Backed by this innovation, ARAUCO Prism TFL is the only decorative laminate with copper-based protection in North America.

Environmental Information:

Prism substrates are made from wood fiber that is sourced as recycled, recovered, FSC® certified and/or controlled, per FSC® Chain of Custody and Controlled Wood standards (FSC-C019364). Prism TFL on VESTA ULEF panels, complies with TSCA Title VI / CARB-2 and meets relevant green building standards including LEED, Green Globes, IgCC, and the CALGreen Code. LEED Categories include MR 4 Recycled Content, MR 5 Regional Materials, MR 7 Certified Wood, and IEQ 4.4 Low-emitting Materials.
